Francisco Bustamante completed an undefeated run through the field of 45 players to win the 2005 Masters 9-Ball Championship at Q-Masters Billiards in Virginia Beach, VA. Bustamante was relatively untested with notable matches that included a 9-3 win over Scott Frost and a 9-5 win over Santos Sambajon. Bustamante took the hot-seat on Saturday with a 9-4 win over Robert Ray. On the one-loss side, Eric Moore was bouncing back from an early loss to Sambajon and was tearing through the brackets. Moore won four matches on the one-loss side including wins over Scott Frost, Teddy Garrahan and Sambajon. Moore's streak ended with a 9-4 loss to Robert Ray. Ray came out on fire in the finals and raced to a 5-1 lead against Bustamante. That fire was extinguished quickly though, as Bustamante won the next 10 games for the 11-5 win. Bustamante pocketed $5000 for first, while Ray settled for $2500 in second place prize money. Moore and Sambajon filled out the top four spots. Complete Results: |
